  do you ever find yourself starting to hum a jw tune subconsciously?

  several times while driving alone i started singing one of them, and then i get to an offensive lyric which jolts me 'awake', and i say something to myself like 'no!

  if anybody heard they'd think i was a few bricks shy of a load 😆.

  Songs are a very easy way to get ideas straight into the subconscious mind.

  Likewise. I'm already a fan of orchestral and folk music, and I think that the Kingdom Melodies series (which was virtually all instrumental only) was filled with brilliant compositions that strayed from the straightforward notes in the songbooks.

  Jehovah's Witnesses Came to My Neighborhood

  for nearly two years i have not seen any jehovah's witnesses going door to door in my neighborhood.

  that was not the case when my wife and i first moved here (north central oregon).

  in fact, our neighborhood was visited at least once every 4 to 5 months - even in the coldest winter months.

  Yeah, they still call it "pioneering", but instead of 70-120 hours, now it's 30-70.

  And yes, all sorts of fudging takes place. One RP in my Hall counts time going grocery shopping with older JWs under the heading of helping them. And then there's the classic phone call method, where you call a return visit early in the morning when of course they won't answer, then count your time driving and through the service meeting. Then on breaks and lunch, pass out a tract and keep the time going.

  Bottom line: The almost 2 billion hours a year counted in 'service' is a joke, and it's no wonder that the JW's growth rate is just about the average of the general population, i.e. most getting baptized are kids who were raised as JWs, like most other religions.

  as she left i ventured a bare tiny 'dont give them money' 'they have millions.

  ' she spun back, (we are on pensions.).

  Do these settlement amounts ever "leak" out?

  What I would love is a law that requires non-profits to announce at all public meetings the amounts of any court judgments and also out of court settlements.

  What’s The Worst Thing You Have Heard About A JW?

  there was a guy that became an elder and he was a father of 8 children including 4 or 5 girls.

  he was a little bit on the self righteous side and would counsel people a lot, especially families about how they could be better witnesses.

  one day his wife dropped a bombshell!!!

  We live and work by a strict moral code based on the word of God and the Bible which shares many common principles with the Jehovah’s Witness faith although we have no affiliation with any religious domination.

  Hard to tell if this is typical JW doubletalk, considering they go on to say:

  Our funerals only now take place at a Kingdom Hall because we are a specialist provider existing to serve Jehovah’s Witnesses. We don’t have to try and adapt to accommodate your needs because we understand and are like minded.
